SPS Joins the Global Schools Program

We are excited to announce that St. Peter’s School has officially joined the Global Schools Program, an initiative of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). This recognition places our school within a global community of educators and institutions dedicated to integrating sustainable development into education.

This achievement is thanks to the dedication of our science teacher, Jenny Soriano, who was recently named a Global Schools Advocate. Jenny’s passion for sustainability and interdisciplinary learning has been instrumental in advancing our school’s commitment to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4—Quality Education.

What This Means for SPS

The Global Schools Program promotes the integration of sustainability topics into school curricula, recognizing that education is a powerful tool for addressing global challenges. At St. Peter’s School, we were already engaged in many of these efforts through our Project-Based Learning (PBL) program and our City Curriculum. These initiatives encourage students to explore real-world issues within our local community while also connecting their learning to broader global contexts. Topics such as good health and well-being, responsible consumption and production, and sustainable cities and communities have long been part of our educational framework.

Through Jenny’s leadership, our school formally joined the program, strengthening our ability to engage students in meaningful discussions about sustainability, global citizenship, and the interconnectedness of social issues worldwide. This not only enhances our academic rigor but also reinforces our commitment to shaping students who are prepared to be thoughtful and responsible global citizens.

Looking Ahead

By joining the Global Schools Program, St. Peter’s School affirms its role as a forward-thinking institution dedicated to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. This initiative reinforces what we have always believed: that an SPS education extends beyond the classroom, empowering students to think critically, act responsibly, and contribute meaningfully to their communities—both locally and globally.

We are immensely proud of Jenny Soriano for leading this charge and for the work our faculty and students are already doing to bring sustainable development education to life. Together, we are embracing this journey and sharing our commitment to building a better world.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to integrate the Global Schools framework into our curriculum and community initiatives!
