Valentine’s Day Fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House
February 14th, 2011
On February 14th, a day to show love and caring, the Second Grade held a heart-shaped pretzel sale to raise funds to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. This event was part of the Lower School’s month-long participation in the Read for Ronald program. To participate in this program, students collect pledges for each minute they read during the month of February to support the Ronald McDonald House. The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families of critically ill children receiving treatment at local hospitals. They operate two houses in Philadelphia, serving a total of 62 families each night. Founded in 1974 as the very first Ronald McDonald House in the world, the Philadelphia House is the model for close to 300 Houses throughout the globe.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Nancy Klinghoffer for her very generous donation of the pretzels!
