Endowed Funds: Honor, Tribute, Memory

St. Peter’s School is a proud beneficiary of funds established to pay tribute to past members and friends of our School family. These lasting gifts are designed to allow donors to contribute and honor those that have had an impact on our institution. Listed below are our special endowed funds that will benefit our school in perpetuity.

The Katherine Gill Brooks Fund for Faculty Enrichment was established by a St. Peter’s family, Oliver and Sally Ford. Named in memory of a favorite aunt who had a lasting influence on Mr. Ford, these monies are used for faculty development to cover the cost of workshops and conferences.

Scholarship Gifts in Memory of Harold W. Gilbert is the oldest tribute to our School, named in memory of the legendary Headmaster of St. Peter’s School during the Choir School era.

The Margaret Glenn Estey Fund was established in memory of Margaret Glenn Estey. The mother of three St. Peter’s children, Mrs. Estey served on the Board of Trustees and was a guiding spirit of the Parents Association for many years. She was also involved in many other Philadelphia organizations devoted to the well-being of children. This fund embodies service to others.

The Kate Nelson Fund is a continuing fund meant to support the education of a succession of high-potential but economically disadvantaged students through the full, eight-year program at St. Peter’s School. Kate Nelson scholars are to be chosen according to St. Peter’s admission criteria from preschool programs serving economically distressed neighborhoods in the Philadelphia area, for entry at the kindergarten or first grade level. Preference is given to racial minorities in furtherance of St. Peter’s diversity objectives. Depending on need, chosen students may receive tuition assistance of up to 95 percent throughout their years at the school, as long as they meet the academic, disciplinary, and other non-financial standards that apply to all St. Peter’s students.

The Tessa Ann Terranova Scholarship Fund was established in memory of a child who attended St. Peter’s from three-year preschool through first grade. After Tessa Ann died from leukemia, this fund was set up in her memory by family, Leonard and Kathy Terranova, brother Leonard, class of 1983 and his sister, Mary Jo Terranova Williams, class of 1987.

Howell S. Zulick ‘30 Fund began with memorial contributions in memory of this member of the class of 1930. At the time of Mr. Zulick’s death in July 1995, Mrs. Zulick requested that gifts be sent to the School in his name. This fund is intended to reinforce St. Peter’s School’s music program, with emphasis on choral training.
