Annual Giving

The Annual Giving campaign is a yearly effort by current parents and the Board of Trustees to help support the day-to-day costs of operating St. Peter’s School.  Unfortunately, tuition does not cover the total costs of educating our children.  In order for our tuition to remain competitive with that of other independent schools in the area — all of which supplement their operating costs with their own Annual Giving campaigns — we must rely on these yearly donations.  St. Peter School’s Annual Giving revenues represent between 4% and 5% of the School’s annual operating budget.  Because Annual Giving donations are not earmarked for specific uses, they are called “unrestricted gifts.”

What do Annual Giving donations accomplish?

In past years, Annual Giving revenues have enabled St. Peter’s to enhance the library collection, upgrade the computer lab, and make improvements to the physical plant.

What are our Annual Giving campaign goals?

St. Peter’s School aims to raise $100,000 in the 2008-09 Annual Giving campaign.

Is Annual Giving tax deductible?

Yes. St. Peter’s is a non-profit institution with a 501(c) (3) status from the IRS.

How is Annual Giving different from voluntary contributions?

Voluntary contributions are used specifically for the faculty’s retirement and medical benefits, enabling St. Peter’s School to offer a competitive compensation package to attract and retain the best teachers.  The voluntary contribution request is set at 7.5% of tuition and accompanies the tuition bill.  Like Annual Giving gifts, voluntary contributions are tax deductible.

When should I make my Annual Giving donation?

You may, of course, make your Annual Giving donation at any time before the end of the school year. However, giving early helps avoid follow-up calls and mailings, and giving by December allows you to deduct your donation from this year’s taxes.  Parents are contacted about Annual Giving in early November each year — first by mail and then by a class parent who has volunteered to help with the Annual Giving campaign — and asked to make a pledge as soon as they are able.

St. Peter’s School accepts checks, MasterCard, Visa and on-line payments through PayPal for your Annual Giving donations.

Who are the Annual Giving volunteers?

Each year, a core of dedicated parents contributes their time to the Annual Giving effort.  Any one of these people would be pleased to give you more information about Annual Giving or to take your pledge.
