Tis a Gift to Be Simple
June 4th, 2009
“Simple Gifts” was the theme of St. Peter’s School’s 2009 Spring Auction, held on Friday, May 8. In a time when all are treasuring the essentials of life, the Auction organizers streamlined this traditional event. For the first time that anyone can recall, the event was held at the School. A generous array of Mexican aperitivos fueled the bidding on the silent auction, as Greg Moore poured wine and butlers passed margaritas. The live auction, called by Richard de Wyngaert, was held in the Alumni Theater. Many attendees remarked on the charm of being in the classrooms for this fundraiser, and the relaxed atmosphere made for a wonderful evening. Tania Rorke, veteran of many Auctions, organized the team of volunteers who made invitations, solicited donations, created an on-line catalog on the School website, cooked food, moved furniture out of the way (and on Saturday, moved it all back.) Our grateful thanks go out to her and all the members of the St. Peter’s community who helped raise over $40,000 for the School.
