Second Grade Takes Walking Tour of Historic Philadelphia
October 27th, 2009
As part of their study of Philadelphia, the Second Grade took a historical walking tour on Thursday, October 22nd. The weather was beautiful; just perfect for exploring the city and making history come alive. They visited the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross House, Franklin Court, Independence Hall, Christ Church and burial ground. Highlights of the day included having Cecilia Wagner (mother of Sophia, 4th grade) ring the bells at Christ Church just for the group; hearing and learning about the dulcimer by the talented musician who was playing outside of the church; receiving a certificate for outstanding behavior at Independence Hall; and leaving pennies at the grave of Benjamin Franklin. The Second Graders are certainly fortunate to attend school located in the heart of this historic district!
