Music & Art
MUSIC, ART and DRAMA
Music
Continuing the tradition of the choir school that preceded St. Peter’s School, music permeates our program. This important element of the school teaches all students, through bells, the recorder, percussion, and voice, basic skills of music literacy. Music accompanies our declamations and assemblies, excites our parades, and enlivens our holiday celebrations throughout the year.
Art
Visual Art enables our students to create works from their unique points-of-view. Taught from Prekindergarten through Grade 8, art materials, concepts and skills are introduced carefully, reinforcing previous learning. Students use a variety of media including paint, charcoal, lead pencils, paper maché, weaving, clay, wood, metal, and plastic to name a few! Our hallways and classrooms are cheered by the work of our students.
Drama
Another backbone to the program is drama. While not a class unto itself, students learn dramatic techniques from the beginning of their time at St. Peter’s School. Class plays, declamations, skits, musical scenes, and training in the technical side of productions, (props, scenery, lights and sound), are a part of every child’s training before they graduate from our School.
