Good Deed- Helping Preserve History
October 1st, 2009
To help preserve a National Historic Landmark, two eighth graders spent an afternoon helping organizers prepare for the annual fundraiser. The boys assembled tables, moved boxes, and generally made themselves useful. The event raised nearly $30,000. The Shambles, America’s oldest surviving Colonial-era marketplace, built before the Revolution in 1745 is attached to Head House, our nation’s oldest standing volunteer fire-engine house, built in 1805.
