Good Deed-Grumblethorpe Gardening
May 27th, 2009
On Thursday, May 21, Mrs. Szathmary’s Second Graders, along with enthusiastic parents and Mrs. Carnecchia, volunteered at Grumblethorpe, the historic home of John Wister. In accordance with the mission of Grumblethorpe’s Elementary Education Program, the children engaged in hands-on activities in the garden. The Second Graders did a fabulous job weeding, watering plants and potting new flowers. They especially loved feeding the chickens from the buckets and buckets of weeds they dug out of the gardens! Due to their hard work, the Grumblethorpe employees surprised the children with popsicles and a tour of the historic house! It was a day full of science, service and fun!
