Good Deed- An Army of Veteran’s Day Cards
November 20th, 2009
The Upper School Students wrote and illustrated a prodigious amount of cards for our country’s great veterans staying at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. According to their web site, “The Philadelphia VA Medical Center provides world-class health care to Veterans living in America’s fifth-largest metropolitan area, including the city of Philadelphia and six surrounding counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey. The facility is staffed by more than 2,000 employees and supports 145 acute care beds and a 135-bed nursing home known as the Philadelphia Veterans Community Living Center. ” (http://www.philadelphia.va.gov/index.asp)
Full of bold colors and poetic support, the students’ cards brightened the day of tens of veterans who certainly deserve honor. The children enjoyed making the cards during an assembly period. Special thanks to Mrs. Hadden for delivering the cards to the Center.
