February 2nd, 2010
Alice Hall, a student in Miss Lewin’s Kindergarten class, participated in the 15th Annual Greater Philadelphia King Day of Service on Monday, January 18 by making lunches for the homeless. The national Martin Luther King Day of Service was started by former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Harris Wofford and Atlanta Congressman John Lewis, who co-authored the King Holiday and Service Act. The Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service is the largest King Day event in the nation. Last year, more than 65,000 volunteers served in some 900 projects throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
