Families Visit the Prekindergarten Art Musuem
June 25th, 2009
As part of the Prekindergarten curriculum, the children studied famous artists during their Special Subjects art class since January. Each week their teacher, Mrs. Wood, read books that focused on a particular artist. The children learned about the artists’ lives and how and why they each painted the way they did. Each child then created his/her own artwork in the style of each artist. For example, they painted still-life pictures like Cezanne, painted on the “ceiling” (under the table) like Michelangelo, and made a Jackson Pollock “action painting.” Our famous artist study culminated in an “Art Museum” which opened on May 21 for parents and friends. It was a rousing success!
