Class Honored by Keep Philadelphia Beautiful

April 11th, 2011

On April 1, Mrs. Bahnck’s Third Grade Class was honored by Keep Philadelphia Beautiful as outstanding volunteers in the community.  They were recognized, along with 24 other volunteers, at an award ceremony at City Hall with Mayor Nutter and Miss America Theresa Scanlan. The class of ten students has worked hard all year to reduce the trash at St. Peter’s and promote recycling.  They each received a “Token of Appreciation” award, recited their poem about recycling, and had a special lunch in the City Council meeting room.  The students described their day:
“It was an unbelievable day!”
“The best part was meeting the Mayor, Miss America, and getting an award.
“We felt like heroes.”
“City Hall was very fancy.”
“It was fun getting the award.  It was a cool day.”
