How to Apply
For All Candidates:
- Contact St. Peter’s School to receive an admissions packet.
- Attend a St. Peter’s School 2009 Open House on Sunday, October 4 or Sunday, November 8 from 2:00 - 4:00.
- Send in a completed application along with an application fee of $40 made payable to St. Peter’s School. Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year prior to the year in which the student will enroll. We recommend beginning this process in the fall to ensure that your admissions file is complete before the first meeting of the Admissions Committee in January.
- Contact St. Peter’s School to schedule a Parent Interview with the Admissions Director. Appointments will be available beginning in October. This visit will give you the opportunity to tour the campus during the school day and to discuss your child’s application.
- Upon receipt of your application, St. Peter’s School will send you a packet containing a teacher recommendation form to be completed by your child’s current teacher.
- Follow the appropriate admissions process specific to each grade (see below).
- Contact the Admissions Office to confirm that your child’s admissions file is complete.
- The Admissions Committee will begin to meet regularly in January. The Admissions Committee will review all completed files. The first of the decision letters will be mailed mid-February. Rolling admissions will continue throughout the spring.
Preschool and Prekindergarten Candidates:
Preschool candidates must be 3 before September 1. Prekindergarten candidates must be 4 before September 1. The Preschool and Prekindergarten visiting day is scheduled for Friday, January 15, 2010. Invitations to the event will be mailed to candidate families in mid-December. RSVP’s are required. Preschool candidates visit for a 30-minute session and Prekindergarten candidates visit for a 45-minute session. During the visit, small groups of candidates will have the opportunity to play in our Early Childhood Division with our Preschool and Prekindergarten teachers. Parents are invited and encouraged to visit with our Head of School, David Costello, for the duration of the child’s visit.
Kindergarten Candidates:
Kindergarten candidates must be 5 by September 1. Parents of Kindergarten candidates are required to provide results of the Wechsler Intelligence Test. The Admissions Office will provide a list of local professionals who can administer the test; however, families are not limited to these individuals. Parents must call the Admissions Office to schedule a half-day visit (8:15 am - 12:00 pm) for their child with one of the School’s current Prekindergarten classes. The visits will be scheduled from November through mid- January. During the visit, your child will meet with the Admissions Director for a Kindergarten readiness screening.
First Grade Candidates:
First Grade candidates are required to provide results of the Wechsler Intelligence Test. Parents of First Grade candidates are required to provide results of the Wechsler Intelligence Test. The Admissions Office will provide a list of local professionals who can administer the test; however, families are not limited to these individuals. Parents must call the Admissions Office to schedule a full day visit (8:15 am - 3:15 pm) for their child with one of the School’s current Kindergarten classes. The visits will be scheduled from November through mid- January. During the visit, your child will meet with the Admissions Director for a First Grade readiness screening.
Second through Eighth Grade Candidates:
Along with the teacher recommendation forms, candidates will receive a transcript request form. Teacher recommendation forms and transcript request are to be signed by the parents or guardians and submitted to the current school after December 1.The Parents of candidates are required to provide results of the Wechsler Intelligence Test. The Admissions Office will provide a list of local professionals who can administer the test; however, families are not limited to these individuals. Parents must call the Admissions Office to schedule a full day visit (8:15 am - 3:15 pm) for their child with the appropriate grade. Visits will be scheduled November through mid- January. During the visit, the candidate will meet with the Admissions Director for a screening in reading, reading comprehension, writing, and mathematics. Candidates for Sixth through Eighth Grade are required to attend a second consecutive day.
