Looking to build various administrative and teaching skills in an educational environment? Learn how our Summer Program operates as you assist teachers and staff with daily duties such as setting up spaces, supervising students, preparing materials for lessons, cleaning/organizing, and similar duties that arise. St. Peter’s School will be closed for Memorial Day. Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May. It was formerly known as Decoration Day and commemorates all men and women who have died in military service for the United States. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day and it is traditionally seen as the start of the summer season.

Field Day is Friday, May 25 at Starr Garden located at 6th & Lombard Street. The students line up in the school yard at 9:30 AM and proceed down to Starr Garden at 9:45 AM. Please join us in cheering on the Garnets and the Greys!
Field Day is the final major sporting event of the year. Students in First through Eighth Grades take part in a spirited competition of tug-of-war, carry-the-colors, sprints and relays. Individual and Garnet and Grey scores are tallied and determine whether the Garnets or the Greys will be awarded the coveted silver bowl at graduation. In sports classes, the students receive individual awards for their performance in Field Day events.

This past weekend, several of our Eighth Grade students traveled to Carlisle, PA for the statewide National History Day competition. We are so proud of all of our Eighth Grade students for their hard work on these projects. We are especially excited to announce that for the very first time, St. Peter’s School will have a student competing at the national level at National History Day in Washington, D.C. this summer. Congratulations to Drew and Ms. Gibfried! 🥇

Once again this year we have been working on our Independent Study Projects. Students have spent time in small groups and individually researching, learning, and preparing for a short presentation on their topic of choice. The presentations will take place the evening of Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Students should arrive at the School by 6:15 PM to set up their projects.
That evening, in the Theater, we welcome families to join us from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. At that time, we will hear from several students, live on stage, about their topics starting promptly at 6:30 PM. After this opening presentation, families will walk through the classrooms to hear from the other students.
We hope you can make it and look forward to showing you the work our students have put into their projects.

Rise up, the children of their house, all in your rich attire,
For the summer springs so fresh, green, and gay;
and all the hair upon your heads shines like the silver wire;
Drawing near unto the merry month of May.
Please join the faculty and children of St. Peter’s for May Day. Bring a picnic supper to enjoy with family and friends on the Sally Wiggins Turf Field after the dancing!
