Deeds in Need
THE DEED PAGE
Good Deed Opportunities:
- Would you like to have a direct, positive, and lasting impact on a family in need? Please consider “adopting” a family this holiday season. There are countless families who cannot afford to have a cheery holiday without a little help. Some have made lists for Santa for their children, others need things as varied as pots and pans and clothing. You can choose from many profiles and find the family that feels right to you. If you are interested, please email Amber Buller amberwest@msn.com or Jessie Burns at jessiewb@gmail.com. THERE ARE ONLY 19 FAMILIES LEFT.
- TOYS, TOYS, TOYS! Please bring any toys that you would like to donate to Turning Points Toy Shop and drop them in the red bags in your classrooms. The 8th Grade will be taking the toys to the shop on the afternoon of DECEMBER 14th. The Mayor got us started, let’s finish with enough to fill Santa’s sleigh! (You may also bring any NEW clothing in all sizes.) Thanks to all of you who have already given.
- If you have a little time this holiday season and would like to sit in a room full of toys, we have just the seat for you! The Turning Points Toy Shop needs staffing from December 14th- 23rd. (No weekends, 2 hour shifts.) All you have to do is open the door for social service workers who come to collect toys for the children they represent. It’s a ton of fun to watch the toys we have collected go off to their new homes and to think of the happy children waiting there for them. If you would like to keep watch over the Toy Store at Turning Points, please let Jessie Burns know. (Turning Points for Children is at 15th and Spruce Street, at 415 S. 15th.)

- The Salvation Army needs bell-ringers! If you would like to donate an hour or two of your time this holiday, you can ring a bell at the red kettle closest to you. Children and senior citizens are most welcome. Go to: http://www.use.salvationarmy.org/use/www_use_philadelphiadhq.nsf for more information.
- Winter is HERE. Project Home is supplying its homeless clients with things to keep them warm. Children’s snow-suits are particularly needed! If you have absolutely anything warm that you no longer need, (hats, gloves, blankets, coats, boots, sweaters, you get the idea..) please 215.232.7272 to arrange a drop-off or give them to Jessie Burns. (Project H.O.M.E. is at 1515 Fairmount Street.)
- The Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia has a small wish list that needs some help. The House provides a home-away-from-home for the families of children battling cancer at CHOP. The House keeps families together, and allows families who are not from Philadelphia to stay together during the child’s treatment. The wish list includes things like subway tokens, phone-cards, umbrellas, Tupperware– things that families need to live at the house and to travel back and forth to the hospital. For the complete list, please email Jessie Burns at jessiewb@gmail.com. (The Ronald McDonald House is at 3925 Chestnut Street.)
Do you have an idea for a Good Deed idea? Do you know an organization that needs help to volunteers? We would be happy to include them here. If you have recently completed a Good Deed and would like to see it on the website, send an email Jessie Burns at jessiewb@gmail.com.
Please make sure to visit our website to see what kinds of Good Deeds have already been done and get some ideas for your own. Go to: http://st-peters-school.org/175th/
